Inspired by the landscapes of Victoria and designed to brighten an everyday space.
I was given the opportunity at my current workplace to design a custom illustrated mural for Gorge Road Health Centre, a long-term care facility in Victoria, BC. The mural was commissioned to provide privacy by covering a portion of the nurses' station windows while creating a warm and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors.
With a one-week timeline and creative freedom, I developed three initial concepts inspired by the local landscape and the themes of comfort, community, and connection. Once a direction was selected, I created the final vector illustrations and prepared the artwork for large-format production, ensuring the design translated well at scale while maintaining visual impact.
For safety reasons, the mural was printed on perforated vinyl film. The material provides privacy while still allowing people to see through the windows. Keeping the illustrations simple and bold helped the design stand out on the perforated surface.
